Hyderabad, Aug. 1 -- Lieutenant General V Sreehari, AVSM, SC, SM, assumed charge as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Dakshin Bharat Area with effect from Friday.
The formation covers peninsular India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, as well as the Union Territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
Hailing from Naduvath village in Wandoor, Malappuram, Kerala, Lt Gen Sreehari is the son of Late Petty Officer M Velayudhan Nair and Ms Sulochana Nair. An alumnus of Sainik School Amaravati Nagar, the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, he was commissioned into the newly raised 16 Sikh Light Infantry on June 13, 1987, before transferring to the PARA Regime...
