Lucknow, April 19 -- Approximately 59.66 percent of the total 1.44 crore electorate exercised their franchise across eight parliamentary constituencies in the first phase of Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh amidst tight security arrangements on Friday.

Chief Electoral Officer of UP Navdeep Rinwa said that a maximum 63.68 per cent votes were polled on Saharanpur seat, Rampur witnessed the lowest turnout of 53.81 per cent.

He said that among other constituencies 58.21 per cent polling was recorded in Bijnor, 61.17 per cent in Kairana, 60.6 per cent in Moradabad, 59.29 per cent in Muzaffarnagar, 59.54 per cent in Nagina and 60.46 per cent in Pilibhit.
