LS passes Income Tax (No. 2) Bill and Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill amid Oppn uproar
New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- The Lok Sabha today passed the Income Tax (No. 2) Bill, 2025 and the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025 by voice vote, amid continued uproar from Opposition members.
Following two earlier adjournments, the House reconvened at 4 PM, when Presiding Officer Sandhya Rai requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to move the proposal for the passage of the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Minister moved the proposal and subsequently introduced the bill for passage, which was approved by voice vote.
During the proceedings, Opposition members continued their protest, accusing the ruling party of "vote tampering" in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
