Pune, Feb. 20 -- A low-pressure system has developed over the Bay of Bengal, and its impact is likely to bring rainfall to several parts of the country.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged citizens to take necessary precautions.
A low-pressure area has formed over the Indian Ocean and the southwest Bay of Bengal. Over the next 24 hours, the system is expected to move towards Sri Lanka. Subsequently, another fresh low-pressure area developed on February 19.
In view of this development, a rain alert has been issued for Uttarakhand and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely over Tamil Nadu and Kerala on February 21 and 22.
Rainfall is also expected in Himachal Pradesh on February 23.
