Bhubaneswar, July 24 -- Odisha is set to experience widespread rainfall as a low-pressure area over the northwestern Bay of Bengal may merge with the remnants of Tropical Cyclone 'Wipha,' which originated in the South China Sea, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) said today.

According to a CEC bulletin, the system is expected to intensify by today evening or early Friday and move in a northwesterly direction toward Jharkhand and northern Chhattisgarh.

Under its influence, widespread rainfall is expected across Odisha until the forenoon of July 26.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in the districts of Angul, Balangir, Balasore, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Khu...
