Bhubaneswar, June 28 -- A low-pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, across several districts of Odisha from June 28 to July 4, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

According to the IMD, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over southwest Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the same region during the next 48 hours.
