Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12 -- A low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, bringing heavy rainfall across Odisha over the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

According to the IMD bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over several districts of Odisha from August 13 to August 15 due to the formation of this system. Meteorological sources said a trough is currently extending from south Bihar to north Odisha, up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

In addition, an upper air cyclonic circulation is positioned over the central Bay of Bengal between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.
