Amaravati, Nov. 25 -- The well-marked low-pressure area that lay over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining south Andaman Sea on Monday has moved to Malaysia and the adjoining Strait of Malacca as of 0830 hours on Tuesday, the Meteorological Centre said.
In its daily weather report, the department noted that the associated cyclonic circulation extended up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the south Andaman Sea within the next 24 hours.
It is expected to strengthen further into a cyclonic storm over the south Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.
