Chennai, Feb. 19 -- With the Low Pressure Area (LPA) over the Bay of Bengal likely to become less marked whiole moving towards Sri Lanka, the Met office on Thursday announced yet another LPA will form over the same region in the next 24 hrs, promising heavy rains in Southern districts on February 21 and 22, where an Yellow alert was issued.
In an update, it said rainfall occurred at isolated places over Coimbatore district, while dry weather prevailed over rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area with no large change in minimum temperatures during the past 24 hours.
It said yesterday's Low Pressure Area over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region at 0830 hrs today.
