Amaravati, Aug. 26 -- The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha coast, persisted at 0830 hours today, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height.

According to the Meteorological Centre, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards and become more marked over the next two days.

In its daily weather report, the Met Centre said the monsoon trough now extends from Ganganagar, Sirsa, Agra, Banda, Sidhi, and Sambalpur to the centre of the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and further southeastward to the east-central Bay of Bengal, up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
