Amaravati, Nov. 21 -- The upper air cyclonic circulation over the central parts of the Strait of Malacca, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, continues to persist, the Meteorological Centre said on Friday.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal around November 24.

The system is then likely to continue moving west-northwestwards and strengthen further over the southwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.
