Amaravati, April 6 -- The upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood, which was observed on Saturday, continues to persist and now extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, the Meteorological Centre said on Sunday.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours, the Met Centre stated in its daily weather report.

Additionally, the north-south trough that extended from north Madhya Maharashtra to north Tamil Nadu on Saturday now runs from Marathwada to south Tamil Nadu across interior Karnataka at about 0.9 km above mean sea level.
