Amaravati, Oct. 19 -- The Meteorological Centre, Amaravati, on Sunday said that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 21 under the influence of a prevailing upper air cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.

The system, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify further into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours, the Met office said.

In its daily weather report, the Centre said that the southwest monsoon has been active over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and normal over Rayalaseema.
