Nagpur, Nov. 21 -- union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) will now include compensation for crop damage caused by wild animals, as well as losses resulting from flooding or waterlogging due to excessive rains.
Speaking to media during the Agro Vision programme in Nagpur, Chouhan said farmers had long demanded compensation for these types of losses.
He stated that if crops are damaged by wild animals or spoiled because of waterlogging, farmers will now receive insurance compensation under the scheme.
