Vrindavan, Dec. 30 -- The Vaikuntha Dwar( gate) was opened at the largest South Indian style Ranganatha temple in North India on the occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadashi here on Tuesday early morning.
The Lord, seated at the Vaikuntha Gate, which opens only once a year, gave darshan to his devotees. It is believed that devotees who pass through the Vaikuntha Dwar attain Vaikuntha Loka (the abode of Lord Vishnu).
The Vaikuntha festival began late at night with the Mangala Aarti of Lord Ranganatha. Afterward, in the early morning hours, Lord Ranganatha, along with Goddess Goda, arrived at the Vaikuntha Dwar in a palanquin amidst the melodious sounds of traditional musical instruments.
