Bhubaneswar, Oct. 1 -- A low-pressure area formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal off the South Andhra Pradesh coast this morning and is moving in a northerly direction, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA Deemed to be University said.
CEC Director Dr SC Sahu said the system is intensifying rapidly and may develop into a depression by today evening or night.
He said it might slightly change course, moving north-northwest, and cross the Odisha coast near Chilika Lake between Ganjam and Puri districts tomorrow afternoon before heading across Odisha towards Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand till Friday.
