New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- India today said it looks forward to engaging with the new government in Bangladesh under Tarique Rahman.
Days after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the swearing-in ceremony of Tarique Rahman as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and handed over a personal letter from PM Modi, the MEA spokesperson said at a briefing today:"You would be aware that Prime Minister congratulated Bangladesh Prime Minister Mr Tarique Rahman soon after his election victory. Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, attended the swearing-in ceremony on Feb 17, 2026, and handed over a letter from the Prime Minister to PM Rahman.
