New Delhi, Feb. 12 -- The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the Industrial Relations Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with the government asserting that the move is aimed at pre-empting any "future unwarranted complication" regarding the repeal of three legacy labour laws subsumed under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.

Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya moved the Bill for consideration and passage in the Lower House, underscoring the Centre's intent to remove any legal ambiguity surrounding the continuity and repeal of the earlier enactments.
