Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 26 -- Kudumbashree has further strengthened its presence in Kerala's local self-government sector, with as many as 7,210 Kudumbashree women winning in the recently held local body elections across the state.
Out of a total of 17,082 women candidates who contested the elections, 7,210 emerged victorious. Kozhikode district recorded the highest number of winners, with 709 Kudumbashree members securing victory. Malappuram stood second with 697 winners, followed by Thrissur with 652.
Among those elected, 5,416 were members of neighbourhood groups (Ayalkoottam), while 106 belonged to auxiliary groups.
