Lucknow, Dec. 12 -- The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department has decided to extend the hours of operation of all excise retail shops across the state in view of Christmas and New Year.
According to an order issued by the Excise Commissioner's office here on Friday, the opening hours for the shops during Christmas on December 24 and 25 and New Year's celebrations on December 30 and 31 have been fixed from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Previously, or on normal days, liquor retail shops were open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
The order states that keeping in mind the increased demand and crowds during festivals, it is necessary to extend the shop timings so that the system remains smooth.
