Shillong, Sept. 10 -- Limison D. Sangma of the ruling National People's Party (NPP) is all set to be the new Deputy Speaker of Meghalaya assembly, as he was the only candidate to file papers till this afternoon, the deadline for submission of papers.
Limison, the three-time member of the 60-member Meghalaya assembly representing the Raksamgre assembly constituency in West Garo Hills district will replace Timothy Dalbot Shira, also from NPP who quit the post of Deputy Speaker on September 8 following the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma's directive.
Shira's resignation has given rise to speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle after the five-day autumn assembly session concluded on September 12.
