Mumbai, May 27 -- A lightning strike claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman in Maharashtra's Thane district =, as heavy monsoon rains continue to batter the region official said here on Tuesday.
The incident took place Monday afternoon in Chatu Budruk village, located in Shahpur taluka.
The victim was reportedly struck by lightning while she was in the backyard of her residence. She was immediately rushed to Thane Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival, said Tehsildar Parmeshwar Kasule.
Authorities have registered the case as an accidental death and are advising residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms, which have already caused multiple fatalities this month.
