Shimla/Keylong, Dec. 31 -- : Light snowfall in higher regions and adjoining areas has prompted the district administration on Wednesday to regulate vehicular movement and issue fresh advisories to commuters and tourists ahead of the New Year rush.

Authorities said freezing of surface water and formation of black ice have made mountain roads slippery and potentially life-threatening. "As a precautionary measure, tourist cabs and private vehicles were advised to return to safer locations after announcements were made at the North Portal".
