Nahan/Shimla, Oct. 22 -- Once known as the 'Crown of the Hill States', Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh now finds itself struggling to regain its past economic glory.

This land which gave Himachal its first chief minister, Dr YS Parmar, today battles stagnation and limited industrial growth. Despite its rich history and fertile land, successive governments, both Congress and BJP, have failed to revive the district's economy or restore its prominence.

Agriculture remains the backbone of Sirmaur's economy. The district's farmers traditionally depend on crops like garlic, ginger, and their byproducts.
