Gadchiroli, Dec. 11 -- Forest officials on Thursday captured the leopard that had been terrorising villages in Armori taluka for nearly a month and was responsible for the deaths of two women, officials said. The capture has brought significant relief to residents of Deulgaon and surrounding areas, where fear and anger had been mounting.

According to officials, the leopard had killed a woman in Deulgaon on November 19, followed by another fatal attack on a woman in Injevari on December 2.

Following the incidents, farm work in the region had come to a halt as villagers refused to venture into fields. Local leaders and residents had also staged roadblock protests demanding immediate action.
