Nahan, Dec. 30 -- : A leopard rescue operation in Kahan village near Sarahan in Sirmour district has exposed serious shortcomings in the preparedness and resources of the Forest Department, raising concerns over public safety and wildlife management in the region.

The incident occurred when a leopard accidentally fell into an empty water tank located near the National Highway in Kahan village, close to the headquarters of Pachhad subdivision. Despite being informed promptly, the Forest department team that reached the spot lacked essential wildlife rescue equipment, leaving the animal trapped in the tank for nearly ten hours.
