Gondia, Sept. 25 -- A five-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack in Maharashtra's Gondia district this morning, officials said.
The incident occurred around 5 am at Sanjaynagar (Bengali Camp), near the Itiadoh Dam in Gothingaon village of Arjuni Morgaon. The victim, identified as Ansh Prakash Mandal, was with his grandmother when the leopard pounced on him, dragged him by the neck, and then abandoned him as villagers rushed to the spot.
The child was taken to the Primary Health Centre at Keshori, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the attack, angry villagers blocked the Keshori-Navegaon road and damaged government vehicles. They are demanding the immediate capture of the leopard and compensation for the bereaved family.
