Pune, Dec. 2 -- Local body elections are underway today in the leopard-prone regions of Khed, Ambegaon, and Shirur in North Pune district.

However, the early morning voter turnout has been visibly affected due to fear of leopard sightings.

During the election campaign, candidates had already faced restrictions because of leopard movement in the area.

In several villages, they were unable to visit hamlets for campaigning after 6 pm due to safety concerns. Now, the same fear is impacting voters, especially in the morning hours.

To ensure voter safety, the administration has implemented urgent measures.
