Ahilyanagar, Oct. 12 -- A leopard suddenly attacked a ninth-grade student on her way to school in Digras village, Sangamner taluka in Maharashtra, dragging her into a cotton field before her maternal uncle intervened. The incident occurred on Saturday morning.

The student, Pragati alias Jyoti, daughter of farmer Sakharam Shriram, studies in class IX at Sahakara Maharshi Bhausaheb Thorat Vidyalaya in the village. As she was leaving for school, a leopard lurking in a cotton field suddenly pounced and dragged her toward the field.
