Ayodhya, Oct. 14 -- The Forest Department sleuths captured a leopard that had been roaming the highly secure Dogra Regiment Cantonment area of Ayodhya for a year and confined it in an iron cage today.

District Divisional Forest Officer Prakhar Gupta said the Forest Department team tranquilized the leopard, caged it, and loaded it onto a truck.

For the past one year, local residents had been complaining to the district administration, Cantonment Board, and Army officials about the presence of a leopard in the area.

This morning, some people noticed a leopard trapped in an iron wire net installed by the Army.
