Guruvayur, Dec. 1 -- Perhaps nowhere in the country a legendary tusker is remembered on its death anniversary. For many years, the tusker Guruvayur Kesavan used to carry the deity Lord Krishna for temple rituals and on one Ekadashi day on December 2, 1976, Kesavan passed away.

Since then every year a memorial function has been observed on Ekadashi day with several devotees and elephant lovers offering floral tributes to its statue installed at the Sreevalsam guest house premise.

The commemorative procession by five Devaswam elephants started early morning from a nearby temple and reached the venue of the statue.
