Shimla, Dec. 17 -- Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has come under sharp criticism from the Left-affiliated 'Shoshan Mukti Manch' over the 'Patwari' recruitment process, with the organisation alleging non-implementation of the reservation roster and denial of fee concession to Scheduled Caste (SC) and economically weaker candidates.

Addressing the media, leaders of the 'Shoshan Mukti Manch' said the decision to levy a uniform examination fee of Rs 800 across all categories amounts to discrimination against marginalised sections.

They argued that the absence of fee relief for SCs and poor candidates discourages their participation and violates the spirit of affirmative action enshrined in the Constitution.
