Pune, Sept. 30 -- Bharatiya Janata Party State spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar said here today that a well-educated society should change its perspective toward 'Lavni', a traditional folk art.
He noted that while this art has received public support in rural areas, in urban areas, people still wrinkle their noses when a Lavni performance is announced.
He lamented that the pension of 1,500 rupees given to Lavni artists is insufficient and stressed the need for schemes to support them as they age. Khardekar also emphasized that this art form should receive royal patronage.
