Latur (Maharashtra), Jan. 1 -- The Latur Municipal Corporation has acted against 265 officers and employees who failed to attend compulsory election training sessions ahead of the civic polls, officials said on Thursday.
Deputy Election Officer Punjabrao Khansole has issued show-cause notices to the absentees, who were scheduled to attend training for polling centre presidents and officers on December 28 at Siddheshwar and Ratneshwar auditoriums.
Khansole stated that the polling process must be conducted in a transparent, disciplined and legal manner, warning that failure to give satisfactory response will lead to departmental action and criminal charges under the Representation of the People Act.
