Rio De Janeiro, April 4 -- Alexis Canelo and Dylan Aquino scored second-half goals as 10-man Lanus recovered from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Venezuela's Puerto Cabello in its Copa Sudamericana group stage opener.
Junior Paredes and Abdul Awudu scored either side of halftime for the host on Thursday, and the Argentine side suffered another blow when Sebastian Segovia was shown a red card on the hour.
Despite its numerical disadvantage, Lanus rallied with two goals in six minutes from Canelo and Aquino.
Meanwhile, Argentina's 2020 champion Defensa y Justicia could only manage a goalless draw in its visit to Uruguay's Cerro Largo.
Also on Thursday, Chile's Union Espanola drew 1-1 at Bolivia's GV San Jose.
