Aizawl, July 9 -- Torrential monsoon rains lashing Mizoram have caused landslides at multiple locations, disrupting road connectivity in Aizawl, Lunglei and Hnahthial districts, an official said today.
A retaining wall collapse in Lunglei town further blocked an internal road, though no casualties or injuries have been reported so far, the official said.
According to data released by the state disaster management and rehabilitation department, a staggering 846 incidents of landslides and landslips have been recorded across Mizoram since the onset of the monsoon on May 24. These have led to 389 road blockages across the state, underscoring the widespread impact of the persistent downpours.
