Gangtok, July 29 -- Heavy rainfall has caused disruption across Sikkim blocking key roads and forcing the closure of multiple highways today.
A major landslide at Taar Khola (10th Mile) on National Highway 10 (NH-10) has completely blocked the route, while foggy conditions in various parts of the state have led authorities to shut down several highways to ensure commuter safety.
The blockage at Taar Khola, a crucial lifeline connecting Sikkim to the rest of the country has brought traffic to a standstill, stranding several vehicles and affecting the movement of goods and passengers. Another landslide at Birik Dara along NH 10 has disrupted traffic movement and vehicles are plying through longer route via Lava.
