Lakhisarai, Oct. 30 -- union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah accused RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of turning Bihar into a hub of crime, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have pulled the state out of the era of "jungle raj" and placed it on the path of development.

Addressing an election rally in Lakhisarai, Shah said that before 2005, Bihar was gripped by lawlessness where kidnappings and murders were rampant and industries were shut down. "There was only one business in Bihar during that period, kidnapping and extortion," he said, crediting Nitish Kumar for eradicating "jungle raj" and beginning a new phase of progress.
