Srinagar, Oct. 4 -- As talks with Leh and Kargil representatives remain stalled, the Ladakh administration today reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the land, resources, and livelihoods of the people of the union Territory and expressed readiness to resume dialogue at the earliest.

Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal said that nothing will happen in Ladakh without the consultation and consent of the local community.

Briefing reporters in Leh, he addressed last week's violence that left four people dead, attributing it to youth being "misled by some leaders for personal and political gains."Following the unrest, 70 people were detained, of whom 30 have been released.
