Srinagar, Oct. 9 -- Over two weeks after violence in Leh town left four people dead and around 100 injured in security forces' firing, the Ladakh administration today held its first confidence-building meeting with the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and civil society members, marking the first sign of thaw between the two sides.

The LAB is one of the two key groups, along with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), leading the campaign in the union Territory of Ladakh, demanding statehood and constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule.

The meeting during the day in Leh was chaired by the Ladakh Chief Secretary, Pawan Kotwal.
