Lakhimpur Kheri, March 26 -- A tragic incident has been reported from Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh, where a 36-year-old Dalit laborer, Kuldeep Kumar, died after allegedly being pushed into a container of boiling molasses, officials said on Thursday.

Kuldeep had been working at a jaggery production unit owned by Sajid Khan for the past five months. The incident reportedly took place on March 11, 2026, when Kuldeep asked for his pending wages.

According to the complaint filed by his father, Khem Karam, Kuldeep was verbally abused and assaulted by Sajid Khan, Rashid Khan, and Hamid Khan before being pushed into the boiling syrup. He sustained severe burn injuries.
