Srinagar, Sept. 29 -- The Leh Apex Body (LAB), leading the demand for statehood and constitutional rights in Ladakh, announced today that it will not participate in the scheduled talks with the Central Government on October 6, citing the need for a judicial probe into the recent violence, the release of detained individuals, and the restoration of peace in the region.

The head of the LAB, Thupstan Chewang, while addressing reporters in Leh, said the decision not to hold talks was taken unanimously in view of the tense environment prevailing in the region.

"Until tranquillity is established and a harmonious environment is created, we will refrain from engaging in any discussions," he said.
