Bengaluru, Sept. 28 -- union Minister HD Kumaraswamy today appealed to the Karnataka government to immediately prioritise rescue and relief measures in the flood-hit districts of Kalyana Karnataka.

In a statement, Kumaraswamy said heavy rains coupled with the release of water from Maharashtra's Ujani and Neera reservoirs had inundated several low-lying villages, putting people in Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Bidar, Raichur, and Koppal under severe distress.

He disclosed that he had spoken personally to the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts, urging them to ensure swift relief work.
