Srinagar, Aug. 10 -- The anti-terror operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at flushing out a group of highly trained terrorists holed up in a dense forest, entered its tenth day today.

The encounter began on August 1 after a joint team of forces launched an operation based on inputs about the presence of a large terror group in the Akhal forest area.

So far, two soldiers from the Army's elite counter-insurgency unit,Lance Naik Pritpal Singh of Manupur village in Khanna and Sepoy Harminder Singh of Badinpur village in Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab,have been killed, while eight others have sustained injuries. Two terrorists, including a local militant, were neutralised in the initial phase of the gunfight.
