Chennai, Nov. 10 -- Pre-commissioning activities are under way at the third 1,000 MW nuclear plant built in Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu, said Russian integrated atomic power major Rosatom today.

The company also expressed its interest in participating in India's plans to set up small nuclear power plants and the fuel cycle.

"At Unit 3, pre-commissioning activities are underway, with preparations for one of the key upcoming milestones - testing of safety systems on an open reactor. Meanwhile, construction and installation work and equipment deliveries continue at Unit 4, and the third phase - Units 5 and 6 - is actively under construction," Rosatom said about the progress in the construction of four more 1,000 MW nuclear power plants.
