Hyderabad, Aug. 23 -- Sircilla MLA and BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has urged the state government to immediately intervene and resolve the financial crisis faced by power loom workers in Sircilla.

In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister and Finance & Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, KTR appealed for waiver of Rs 35.48 crore back-billing dues and immediate release of Rs 101.77 crore electricity subsidy.

KTR warned that if the government fails to respond, the distressed leaders and workers of Sircilla might resort to suicide. He expressed grief that the industry, which was stabilised during his tenure through initiatives like the Bathukamma saree scheme, is once again under severe threat.
