Bengaluru, April 19 -- Amid growing outrage over reports that students were allegedly made to remove their sacred thread (Janeu) at a Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) centre, State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Saturday admitted that the incident was a "big mistake" and assured that corrective action would be taken.
"Forcing someone to remove the 'janivara' is a big mistake, and I do not support it. Students are instructed to follow rules during exams, but officials will now be directed to address this appropriately," Dr Parameshwara told reporters, marking the first official acknowledgment of the controversy by the Congress-led state government.
