Srinagar, March 14 -- A non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits organization- the Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti (KPSS), has urged the J&K and central government to declare March 14 as "Martyrs' Day" in Jammu and Kashmir.

The KPSS president Sanjay Tickoo said that recognizing March 14, 1989-the date of the first recorded attack on Kashmiri Pandits-would honor their resilience and ensure the truth is not buried under political expediency.

"On March 14, 1989, Prabhawati became the first recorded victim of the targeted violence against Kashmiri Pandits, an ominous precursor to one of the largest forced exoduses in human history," Tickoo said in a statement on Thursday.
