Madhubani, Jan. 27 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday said that the Kosi river, once considered a curse for Bihar due to frequent floods, has now turned into a boon for the state following systematic planning and effective river management.
Accompanying Chief Minister Nitish Kumar''s Samriddhi Yatra in Madhubani, Choudhary said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has transformed rivers into life-supporting resources through scientific management.
Recalling the devastating floods of 2007-08, he said that when Nepal released 1.92 lakh cusecs of water, districts such as Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa and Khagaria were severely affected.
