Kolkata, May 3 -- Kolkata Port or Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, (SMPK) on Saturday achieved a milestone in its operational efficiency with the successful commencement of night navigation in the upper reaches of the River Hooghly, from Budge Budge to the Sea - a crucial development aimed at reducing turnaround time and pre-berthing detention of vessels.
Speaking of the groundbreaking achievement of SMPK chairman Rathendra Raman said, "This is a historic day for this riverine port introducing the night navigation facility in the upper stretches of the River Hooghly. It will significantly improve operational efficiency and turnaround time, paving the way for enhanced trade throughout."
